Let’s go to the ISLAND DRVENIK, CROATIA with kid (s) !

Summer time, summer time, summer time … happiness … 🙂 … Hey guys … Could life get any better ? ( ok it probably could but this is just perfect enough ) … It’s summer time in Croatia and we are just about to hop on a ferry that’s going to take us to the island of Drvenik Mali. Buying the ticket for the ferry was quite an adventure. The port where you get into the ferry is in a small place called Seget Donji, but you can’t buy the ticket there … You have to drive through the crowd and get into Trogir to buy the ticket and than drive back to the port ( not to mention that there are no signs, what so ever, of where you could buy the ticket) . Someone might find this quite frustrating and unorganized … for me it was just a perfect oportunity to visit Trogir which I adore. Check info about the tickets and timetable of the navigation here :

Anyways Seget Donji is quite a charming place and we enjoyed it while waiting for the ferry.

Ljeeeto nam se vratilo … Uo uo uo … 🙂 … Hey ekipica … Welcome to Croatia …

After we sailed away, our first stop was Veli Drvenik and that is where we realized that this is going to be one magnificent week. I really can’t remember the last time that I saw nature as beautiful as here and the water as pure and as turquoise blue as this one … I can’t wait to disembark on Drvenik Mali and to hit the exploration. And you … Veli Drvenik … are definetly on our bucket list from now on … 😉

And here we are … here we are … Hello Drvenik Mali … For starters a few basic info about the island … Drvenik Mali is a small island which is situated about 10 nautical miles southwest from Trogir and west from the island Veli Drvenik. The surface of the island is 3,43 km². The island is inhabited and that mostly on its central and eastern part and it counts 50-60 inhabitants, which are inhabited in few villages. The “capital” village is Borak, but the island has some more villages such as Vela Rina, Mala Rina, Petomavar and Dolići right next to the coast and Velika Kuknara and Mala Kuknara which are a bit away from the coast.
The island has very little or almost no traffic cause there’s no modern roads … recently Drvenik Mali got his first asphalted road only a few hundred meters long on the road from Borak to Vela Rina bay … All other roads are kinda “forrest roads” or as we call it in Croatia “goat track”, and that is one of the things that makes this place so magical and contributes to the possibility of having one really relaxed vacation. Drvenik Mali is connected with Trogir and Seget Donji by a ferry. The port Borak is the main port of the island and the central location of all social and economic activities. The potential of tourism developement is still not used on a high level (there’s no waterworks or sewerage system). But that is also the reason why’s the island surrounded with beautiful beaches and clean and pure sea, it is still not devastated with “modern construction”.
The island is rich with olive trees and judas trees of top quality. Extra virgin olive oil is well known and sold around the country. Drvenik Mali is a great place to take a vacation “away from civilization” cause it has a lots of untouched natural beauty and therapeutical mediteranian plants.

I evo naaas … evo naaas … Hello Drvenik mali …

“modernom gradnjom”.

Otok obiluje nasadima maslina i rogača vrhunske kvalitete.
